Rùm from Mainland Scotland

The Island of Rùm (or Rhum) lies about fifteen miles to the west of the mainland of Scotland just south of Skye. These views are from a variety of places all within a few miles of each other.

The distance to the island makes its profile pretty much the same from all the places. But the foreground changes (if you go to different places) and so does the light (whether you want it to or not). These were all taken on four days in June 2009.

Parts of "Local Hero" were filmed from the beach at Camas an Daraich. When it's quiet and when the weather is kind it really is a lovely place.
